Is B Corporation Status Right For Your Venture?

If you have a U.S. for-profit company which also pursues artistic, charitable, cultural, economic, educational, environmental, literary, medical, religious, scientific or technological interests benefiting a broader community than your stockholders, you may want to consider organizing as a B Corporation. Companies with broader social or environmental missions are no longer limited to traditional for-profit or limited liability corporate status and may find advantages in B Corporation status.  In addition to or in lieu of incorporating as a public benefit entity, your company may choose to seek “B Corp” certification by B-Lab, an independent certification body, which confirms to the public that your company meets certain standards of environmental and social consciousness.
