Largest Asia Pacific Regional Meeting Held in Hong Kong

This day-long conference “Hong Kong: Legal Excellence, Business Vision,” was attended by almost 90% of member firms in the region, making the largest gathering to date in this region for the network. Ally Law firms from Europe and the Middle East were also represented. The program featured a business meeting to discuss Ally Law operations, followed by three client panels with a diverse range of speakers from Hong Kong and overseas that focused on family wealth protection, Hong Kong’s role as an attractive listing and fundraising venue, and the merits of arbitration versus litigation. Highlighted luncheon speaker Michael Hartmann, former Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal, gave a compelling address about the rule of law in Hong Kong and his experiences as a young trial lawyer in his native Zimbabwe. Later in the conference, attendees participated in a fascinating Q&A discussion with Legislative Councilor and barrister Dennis Kwok, who spoke at length about the Hong Kong protests and the effect they have had on the city.
