We are pleased to announce the appointment of Teixeira de Freitas, Rodrigues e Associados (“TFRA”), as our newest member, based in Lisbon, Portugal with an additional office in Funchal, Madeira.
The firm was formed in 1993 by Luiz Augusto Teixeira de Freitas and Rosana Maria de Freitas Rodrigues and initially concentrated on commercial and tax law, with a special focus on the Madeira International Business Center tax regime for non-resident entities. With the creation of the Madeira International Shipping Register (RIN-MAR), the firm became involved with ship registration and ship financing arrangements, representing both shipowners and international banks.
A full-service business law firm with 14 lawyers, TFRA has a specialization assisting Brazilian multinationals and banks who are active in Portugal and the European Union. The firm also advises multinationals corporations in Mozambique and Angola, many of which provide services to the oil industry. In recent years, the firm has begun providing multi-jurisdiction advice on personal wealth structures to an increasing number of foreign UHNW individuals and families interested in Portuguese market opportunities.
