The Fair Work Legislation Amendment Act 2024 commenced on 27 February 2024, introducing a suite of significant workplace relations reforms.
On April 20, 2024, New York lawmakers finalized their $237 billion fiscal year 2024-2025 budget.
The Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission has published its latest decision on the minimum pay rates for aged care workers, signaling the increase of the minimum rates of indirect care workers and the further increase of the minimum rates of direct care workers.
Rejecting lower court decisions that required employees to show “material,” “serious,” “significant,” or “substantial” harm, the Court held that employees need only show that a job transfer caused them “some harm” with respect to an identifiable term or condition of employment.
On April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced a new rule that it is an unfair method of competition—and therefore a violation of Section 5 of the FTC Act—for employers to enter into non-compete clauses with workers.
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has issued a final rule that significantly raises the required salary threshold for many salaried exempt employees starting July 1, 2024.
