Advaya Legal and BTG Legal merged in 2023 to form BTG Advaya. The combined firm is made up of 11 partners and over 45 fee earners in 3 offices – Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi – adding scale, depth and reach to its client servicing capabilities.
The two constituent firms, prior to their recent merger, enjoyed a strong reputation in the market as a specialist cross-border firms with on-point sector expertise. The combined firm now hopes to build on that solid foundation to deliver legal services in a commercial and ‘to the point’ manner. Consistent with the ethos of strategic, partner-led advice, the firm maintains a partner to associate ratio of 1:4. Advaya Legal was founded in 2010 by Ramesh K. Vaidyanathan after having served as the GC of several portfolio businesses of an Indian infrastructure company. Prior to that, Ramesh was a partner with a large Indian law firm, where he set up the firm’s Mumbai office from scratch and spearheaded it as its Resident Partner.
BTG Legal was founded by Prashant Mara in 2014 after his stint with an international law firm in their UK and German offices. Prashant was also previously with a French law firm in Paris, a national Indian firm and started his career as in-house counsel with a NASDAQ-listed Indian technology company.
