Describe the international arbitration governing bodies/structure in your jurisdiction.

In the United States there are a number of non-governmental organizations that provide arbitration services. One such organization is the International Centre for Dispute Resolution which is the international division of the American Arbitration Association (AAA).

Describe any unique circumstances in your country that affect international arbitration (i.e., change in government, etc.).

Arbitration is recognized and welcomed in the United States.

Please provide a brief overview of your firms international arbitration capabilities (team members, experience as litigators in arbitration as well as experience as arbitrators).

Varnum LLP has a large litigation practice group with many experienced litigation attorneys. Many of our litigators are also experienced with private arbitration and several have experience with international arbitrations both inside and outside of the USA.

In which areas does your firm handle arbitration? (i.e., international investment, infrastructure, public works, energy, construction, etc.)

Arbitrations can include a number of types of disputes. Varnum LLP has many manufacturing clients and we have represented clients in arbitrations involving suppliers in the automotive industry and also other manufacturers.

Which industries does your firm serve in this area (i.e., energy, insurance, public concessions, etc.)?

Varnum has a number of clients that are manufacturers including automotive suppliers who we represent in business disputes including litigation and arbitration.

Does your firm provide lawyer representation or certified arbitrator resources, or both? Please describe.

We provide legal representation to our clients in the arbitration process. We have several attorneys associated with Varnum that are also trained mediators.
