Meet Alice Cabrelli – Young Leader from Hong Kong

What is your primary area of practice, and what drew you to it?

My primary area of practice has shifted over the past few years. It is now mainly focused on shareholder disputes and company related matters. I do still have an active family practice, and the similarities between the two areas are more striking than you would initially think. I am drawn to both areas as the work is diverse and every day is different.

Tell us about a recent memorable project, matter or case that you’ve worked on. What was fun? What was challenging?

I have been assisting on a shareholders dispute for 4 years. It has been very challenging, particularly the preparation for a lengthy trial. It was great to work so closely with our Counsel team who are very experienced and to learn their trial techniques. Hopefully we are now reaching the end of the matter giving some closure to our client.

Since the pandemic, what is one thing that has improved in your life?

My husband and I welcomed our son in January 2020, just as the pandemic was starting in Hong Kong. We have definitely been able to spend more quality time together as family in the 1st year of our son’s life than we would done otherwise.

And now, a wild-card question: What’s your favorite place to visit and why?

Italy – the food, the history, the weather! My father is of Italian descent and we have a family home in a small sleepy town – a lovely escape.
