Meet Your Ally: Members Connected and Engaged at Ally Law’s 2022 AGM

Ally Law hosted its 2022 Annual General Meeting May 24 through 28, 2022, in Zurich, Switzerland. Hosted by member firm Blum & Grob, the event was Ally Law’s 32nd AGM and the first in-person global conference since 2019.

Said Paul Franke, president of Ally Law and a partner in Denver-based member firm Moye White, “Our AGM in Zurich marked the first time that Ally Law held a global conference since our 2019 conference in New Delhi. Between the two meetings, the network has thrived, with new members and many new programs. Our recent Zurich meeting provided a wonderful opportunity for our leadership, delegates and guests to gather together, with an agenda focused on connection and engagement.”

The substantive sessions at the AGM were designed to unite, engage and bond attendees while exploring industry trends, best practices and new client opportunities. Among other highlights, Spiros Margaris, a venture capitalist and futurist in the fintech, cybersecurity, health care and AI sectors, delivered a keynote address entitled “The Embedded World.”

In two dozen member-led discussion groups, attendees shared best practices, regional perspectives and new developments on topics ranging from client surveys to international tax law. The agenda also included a global group of managing partners sharing their ideas and experiences on running a competitive, high-performance law firm in a post-pandemic world.

In addition to the formal sessions, the conference offered attendees opportunities to explore the history and culture of Zurich. These events included tours of public art, residential quarters and the famous Lake Zurich via e-bike, as well as guided walks through the city’s significant cultural, financial, business and architectural landmarks. Further afield, some attendees took advantage of options to raft below the beautiful Rhine Falls or visit the stunning Swiss countryside and the historic city of Lucerne. Throughout the AGM, delegates further strengthened connections while dining at some of the region’s finest restaurants.

“It all boils down to a simple truth,” concluded Franke. “Relationships are the glue that keeps our network strong and enables us to deliver effective, efficient client service. Our Zurich AGM was a marquee opportunity to build and strengthen these connections.”
